Migrations slowed by weather

Migrating birds have been struggling north to our area in spite of inclement weather.

Recent arrivals at bird feeders include a cow bird at ours, and a ruby crown kinglet at the home of Bob Hayward in south London. We also have a white-throated sparrow, a pair of mourning doves, pairs of gold finches, the males in its bright yellow colours (now called alternate plumage), a pair of downy woodpeckers, three male and one female red-winged blackbirds and a pair of Carolina wrens.

    Our weather has slowed some of our migration, too. My hummers have not yet arrived.
