A castle fit for a bird tops center’s exhibit

A castle designed by one of King Arthur’s rocket scientists — that’s how one of his friends described John Bruce’s entry in this year’s Birdhouse Competition and Exhibit at the Ogden Nature Center.

Solar power was incorporated into the birdhouse that took the Judge’s Choice award. The “Alaska Bird Inn” features a solar-powered fountain.

“It’s a log cabin,” said Gonzalez. “The front porch is their feeder, and the back porch is the bird bath and has a slate chimney with a fountain that trickles down.”
