Linda Kennedy’s meditation takes the form of relaxing on the back patio, watching birds compete for their turn at the feeders, splash in the bird bath or sing from the top of the Blue Spruce.

Soon butterflies will be added to this busy habitat, swooping in and out of the flowers looking for nectar. It only takes a tweak or two for most gardeners to incorporate the four elements of a wildlife habitat — food, water, shelter and places to raise their young — into their landscapes.
