Floods strike Pequannock once again

Gulls enjoyed an impromptu bird bath as the Pompton River again rose up out of its banks and flooded the parking lot of the A&P on Route 23 in Pequannock on Monday. No water has been reported in the building, but officials fear that further rains later in the week could change that as the river levels climb again.

The scene at the intersection of Fairview and Oakwood avenues was much the same on Monday as it was at this time last year: homeowners milling around, watching the floodwaters once again take over their homes and streets, and wondering when it would end so they could return to their houses.
